Grandma's Attic

Grandma's Attic

I’m often asked how I choose the treasures that find their way onto the shelves at Cowboy Creek Gifts. I usually joke, “How much time do you have?” But the truth is much simpler. I choose them the same way I always have—by remembering the wonders hidden in my Grandma’s attic.

I spent countless hours up there as a child, admiring the things she tucked away for special seasons. There were feather trees and boxes of German ornaments waiting to dress their branches. Tin toys, paper‑mâché figures, and decorations for every time of year, all nestled in boxes padded with shredded newspaper.

Nativities, tiny tea sets, paper dolls, glossy figures from far‑off places—it was a treasure trove of a life paused in time. Even now, I can close my eyes and recall the sights, the faint scent of old paper, the hush of that attic world. Though my family has long since journeyed on, those memories still comfort me. Surrounding myself with these kinds of treasures helps me feel connected to those simpler days.

My hope is that you, too, will find something here that tugs at your heart—something that reminds you of a family tradition or makes you say, “My mother or grandmother had one of these.” If it does, then you, my friend, are one of us at the Creek.

I always love hearing from new friends and sharing stories of days gone by.
