Joys of the Garden, Part of the Original Hubrig Country Life Collection.

"Joys of the Garden," part of the Landidyll (Country Life) Collection, brings to mind the little boy "who lives down the lane." I believe his name is Peter. All I recall is that he once "ate a pie, stuck in his thumb, and proudly declared, 'What a good boy am I!'" At the dinner table, I mistakenly asked my nephew if he knew him, and he replied, "Do you mean Peter?" He continued, "Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater, had a wife but couldn't keep her..." I interjected, saying he's too young to be married. Then my other nephew chimed in, asking if he's the one who picked peppers, reciting, "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?" Fortunately, my brother arrived just in time to collect his children. Thus, by unanimous decision, this delightful little character shall be known as Peter from now on.
