The Ferris Wheel was the gift of George Washington Gale Ferris Jr. who in 1893 created it as a centerpiece for the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. Today it remains a common fixture at county fair throughout the United States. Las Vegas is home to the world’s largest wheel which measures 550 feet.
