Do you remember the first time you stepped into a pair of skates? My ankles turned sideways, and even clinging to wall was no easy task, I think I spent most of my time on my knees or rear. But with a little determination and hard work, I was soon able to make it around the rink. It is always fun to watch the little kids try it for the first time down on the pond. It's not as easy as it looks!

Each wonderful piece is handcrafted in Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) region of Germany. Originally the people of the area made their living as coal miners, but when the coal deposits gave out they turned to the forests to make a living. Families began making their favorite figures and selling them in their homes or at local Christmas Markets, today they are sold around the world and are sought after collectibles. These fine art miniatures of wood are a perfect addition to any country décor and are sure to become family heirlooms.
