Here at Cowboy Creek, storytelling is a part of life, what's a campfire without a tale or two? Just the other night, I was telling my nephews about Scandinavian Gnomes. "They're akin to barn elves," I explained, "about as tall as a grasshopper's knee, and they take a keen interest in chores around the farm. They do wonders like grooming horses, hauling hay, and feeding rabbits." I could tell they were skeptical, so I pointed to the corner of the barn where a small bowl of porridge sat. They raced to see and returned with puzzled expressions. "What's the porridge for?" they asked. "Well," I replied, "like everyone else they appreciate not being taken for granted, so for a bit of food they keep the homestead a little more interesting." "Uncle Steve, are you making this up?" Well, "No," I answered, "I think the Scandinavians did that years ago."
I am excited to share with you a little piece of that Scandinavian folklore and culture. Handcrafted in the forests of Estonia, a small nation surrounded by its Scandinavian neighbors Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Each gnome is handcrafted of wood, felt, and faux wool beards.
