Nordic Dreams

Here at Cowboy Creek, storytelling is a part of life, what's a campfire without a tale or two? Just the other night, I was telling my nephews about Scandinavian Gnomes. "They're akin to barn elves," I explained, "about as tall as a grasshopper's knee, and they take a keen interest in chores around the farm. They do wonders like grooming horses, hauling hay, and feeding rabbits." I could tell they were skeptical, so I pointed to the corner of the barn where a small bowl of porridge sat. They raced to see and returned with puzzled expressions. "What's the porridge for?" they asked. "Well," I replied, "like everyone else they appreciate not being taken for granted, so for a bit of food they keep the homestead a little more interesting." "Uncle Steve, are you making this up?" Well, "No," I answered, "I think the Scandinavians did that years ago."

I am excited to share with you a little piece of that Scandinavian folklore and culture. Handcrafted in the forests of Estonia, a small nation surrounded by its Scandinavian neighbors Norway, Sweden, and Finland.  Each gnome is handcrafted of wood, felt, and faux wool beards. Many thanks to the folks at Nordic Dreams for keeping alive the traditions and wonders of vintage inspired treasures.
