Dakotah and I were sitting around the campfire one night when he started sharing some interesting facts about cows he’d learned at school. “Did you know, Uncle Steve, that cows drink up to 35 gallons of water a day?” They can smell something up to six miles away, and they don’t really bite the grass — they wrap the blades around their tongue and pull.

They spend seven to eight hours a day eating and can see almost 360 degrees around them. And here’s the one that had us both wondering: cows can go up stairs, but they can’t go down them. Why a cow would want to go upstairs in the first place is still a mystery.
